This page on my website contains an audio presentation about my town, with probably some pictures I took.
Here is the transcription of the audio:
Hello everybody,
My name is Souleym, and today I’m going to present you Mantes-la-Jolie, the town where I am living since my Birth
now.
Mantes-la-Jolie is located around 50 kilometers west from Paris, in the Yvelines. It’s not a big city, but it’s
not too small also. Many people say it’s a quiet place, but actually it depends the hours of the day. For me, it’s
my town, my city with a lot of history. I have a lot of memories with my friends and my family.
One of the most famous place in Mantes-la-Jolie is the Collégiale Notre-Dame. It’s a big church with gothic style.
When you look it from far, it’s really impressive and beautiful. Inside, it’s also very beautiful.
Another important thing in the city is the Seine river. The river is really important because it gives a nice
view, and people like to go there for walking, running or just sitting and relaxing. There is also the Île Aumône
and the parks around where families go on week-ends. Sometimes I go there to play with my friends because the
sunset is really nice from the bridge.
Mantes-la-Jolie also have some cultural places. For example, there is the musée de l’Hôtel-Dieu, where you can see
exhibitions and learn more about the history of the city. There is also a theater and a music school, and
sometimes big events happens in the city.
About daily life, the city got many shops, restaurants and coffees. The market is very popular, especially on
Wednesday and Saturday mornings. You can find fresh food, local products, clothes, and many other things. Sunday
at Val Fourrée the center is a lot animated because people of city arounds come for the market and you can see a
lot of people walking around.
Thank you for listening my presentation. I hope you enjoy it.
Below are four photos that I have selected from all the ones I took.
